Headlight protection is incredibly valuable for a number of reasons. On average, 1 out of every 6 automobiles will require headlight replacement due to damage from road debris. This can be a costly and time-consuming process, with the average headlamp set costing $450 to replace. Plastic headlights generally tend to lose their clarity, while glass headlights are prone to breaking and fracturing as they wear.
To install headlight tint, you will need a vinyl squeegee (a credit card wrapped in cloth will work), a soft cloth towel, a spray bottle with soapy water, and a hair dryer or heat gun.
Here are the steps to install headlight and tail light tint film:
Clean the surface of the headlight or tail light with soap and water to ensure all debris are removed.
Carefully remove the overlay from the sheet and spray the overlay's adhesive side with soapy water to prevent it from sticking to the tail light.
Carefully apply the overlay onto the tail light, smoothing out as many creases as possible with your fingers and using the vinyl squeegee to push out any soapy water on the front face. Make sure the creases are evenly distributed so that it can be easily smoothed out with a heat gun and squeegee.
Carefully pull and fold the side inward, using a hair dryer if needed to soften up the vinyl and squeegee out any creases.
Heat up any excess vinyl to make it easier to trim, and then trim any excess with a knife.
This headlight and tail light tint film is 12 by 48 inches, self-adhesive and stretchable with heat. It is also water resistant, easily cleansed, and leaves no residual when removed.
